Nightcrawler's 2018-2019 Season
Hi everyone,
I will share my workouts and pace times in this thread.
At the moment my 400m free is around 4:55 and 800m free is around 10:10.
My goal in this season is 4:40 for 400m free and 9:30 for 800m free, both are for short course. I think these goals are reasonable.
I changed my paddles, today I tested my new paddles, today early in the morning we swam with the friends in Bosphorus again though it was a rainy day in Istanbul, here is our swim video:

My new paddles are: https://www.decathlon.ie/pro-quick-in-swimming-hand-paddles-en-s156054.html
They are quite good for teaching the elbow, wrist, hand and fingers to work as one unit.

Re: Nightcrawler's 2018-2019 Season
Hi Everyone,
With the invitation of Turkish Swimming Federation on the 29th of September I competed in Aqumasters 10K Swim Marathon in Bodrum/Turkey. A 10K swim event was first time held in Turkey.
I took the 1st place in General Ranking and 1st in 40-44 age group with 2:33:03, which is a quite satisfactory time for stormy weather conditions. It was fine to swim and live the victory with Carina Bruwer who is a world class ultra marathon swimmer and also the quest of honor of the championship.
I owe my special thanks to all for support and encouragement.

Re: Nightcrawler's 2018-2019 Season
Congratulations Nightcrawler!
I swam 5 times a week for a month recently and like you said, fitness dictates technique. I was touching a new level of swimming, Further reach, fuller catch, more fluid switching between propulsive phases, higher strokerate and feeling higher on the water.
Dont know how fast exacly but according swimwatch doing 3.9k in an hour active swim time or something. including 30% backstroke.
Main focus point is getting those shoulders further forward at the end of recovery while keeping those legs long and streanlined. Makes the whole shoulder complex nice and flexible over time.

Nicely spoken; I'm glad there were English subtitles. You are doing well.
This time next week I expect to be ocean swimming with the sharks at Cottesloe, Perth.

3 hours to go before landing!
My bro has been training recently as he has an idea to do something for Rotto this year or next.
How is your training?
Just watched a film “swimming with men” all about an old gents synchronized swimming team. Hilarious!

Re: Nightcrawler's 2018-2019 Season
Trying to do a lot more open water swim events this season. Started last weekend with a 5km at Coogee. Hopefully try a 10km as well. Training's OK. Shoulder is best it's been in years. I did find with the 5k that I haven't done enough long continuous swims yet, well none actually. Been averaging 5 days/week in the pool for 19-20k per week but max intervals have been 400m. Also pulled up with a dodgy neck from all the sighting in the 5k, not something I been doing in the pool. Anyway, back to the beach for training Sats now with min 3k, that's when there's not an event on. There are even more ows events this season, and with 5 of them with a 10k, and 10 with a 5k, plus all the shorter distances.

Re: Nightcrawler's 2018-2019 Season
You deserve every success in view of all your hard work and dedication to this sport.
The average Joe like me didn,t realise the huge amount of time it takes to swim properly. Instead we play at this, that and the other, being just a dabbler in many activities.
Coming last in competitions is normality for some of us, remember Eddie the Eagle?
Anyhow we hope to improve on our last place at next Saturday,s 5 km Parkrun.

Re: Nightcrawler's 2018-2019 Season
Thanks for your kind comments Cottmiler.
I saw the film Eddie the Eagle, it was really inspiring, one of the great movies I have ever seen!
Challenging and dealing with makes us to reach our personal bests, but as you mentioned it takes time.
But in any case; if you can take it, you can make it!
Keep swimming...
Today's workout:
26.11.2018 (Morning session 6:50-8:35, SCM)
5*1500m crawl, int:21'
(20:53, 20:49, 20:36, 20:31, 20:26)
Notes: One of the longest workouts of the season. I didnt feel comfortable while swimming the last set, i am not in bad form but I must improve my pace by 5%, I know that it will take time but I will take it!
