Why do you think these 14 year old competetive swimgirls are so fast Nightcrawler?
Remember dropped in the lane with them as a 16 year old boy with no swimexperience but with good base speed according the coach. They totally destroyed me.

Their inner energies are higher, they have more flexible joints and higher arm and leg cadance. When all these three issues come together pace becomes sub 1:15, there is no need for smooth style, stronger pull and catch mechanics.  We must find out how to increase our inner energy, how to increase our joints' flexibility and cadance; but these three issues are only be improved till the end of puberty age since myelin shell's(shell around the nerve cells)  thickness reaches its maximum level and then the learning of the muscles stops(or decreases to minumum level). I know that you are still n search of some swim secrets but it is a big lie, dont believe the SS or TI like buffoons saying that you can improve(of course we can but to a little extend such as 2-3 seconds per 50m, not in the way that they want to sell like a magician.

For example SS's Paul says "increase the cadance" but for increasing cadance you should have healthy joints.

Ceo Terry Laughlin says swim easy by spearing the arm into the water by using your core but it becomes more exhausting if your inner energy is not sufficient for that.

Conclusion: best way for us is just training regulary and living healthy by eating and sleeping well. Also keeping the mind free for a good pshychology is very important.

The key point is this: you can only make huge improvements via technique if you have huge flaws in your technique to start with. If you have a reasonable technique already, you can only make marginal gains via technique; most of your improvements will come from fitness and strength training. This is why you will often see SS or TI case studies where people drop their pace from say 2:20/100m to 1:50/100m over a few months; it's far less common to hear of someone dropping their pace from 1:50/100m to 1:20/100m.

The other thing to bear in mind is this: just knowing what good technique looks like doesn't mean you can instantly perform it. You may lack the flexibility, the upper-body stamina, the strength in less-commonly-used, swim-specific muscles, etc. It isn't just about imprinting patterns in "muscle memory"; it's about conditioning the body itself. There may even be a pathway you need to take towards that "ideal" technique that involves detours into less-than-ideal technique along the way.
