adverts block out content - and cant get past them! Empty adverts block out content - and cant get past them!

Help!  Big Brother "Google" is taking over with their adverts garnered from sites we have visited and which "blot out" what we want to see.  Am using the Google Chrome browser - and although I go through the motions of "Adchoice" and end up getting the message "We wont show this to you again" - it still covers up what we want to see, and going to the previous pages doesn't solve the problem.  Its infuriating!!!

The problem seems to have disappeared. Dunno whether it was some action I took, or Google did some amendment to the way their adverts, with scooped-up info from other websites are displayed now!
