Re: Nightcrawler's Journey to World Masters Swimming Championships 2017
Today, I hardly woke up and reluctantly went to the pool, due to water's being cold the security first didnt let me in and recommended me abandon and return home, I didnt pay attention and insisted on training. Swam alone again as usual (because people are lazy in my country also they dont have sports culture) and as a result I broke the devil's leg!

Today's session:
20.07.2017 - SCM 4200m - Morning session 6:30-7:40
50m crawl easy
Set1: 2000m crawl with pullbuoy+paddles (26:28, 1st 1000m split time: 13:14, SPL:17-18) (Average Pace:1:19.5)
I ACHIEVED AGAIN!!! Next target is 26:15
50m crawl easy
Set2: 1500m crawl one arm drill - one arm extended - 2 left arm 2 right arm (23:55, SPL:16-17) (Average Pace: 1:36)
50m crawl easy
Set3: 20x25m crawl with ankle bands int:22" (avg:19")
50m crawl easy
Notes: I ACHIEVED MY TARGET AGAIN!!! Next target is 26:15
My splits were as follows:
- 100m: 1:18
- 200m: 2:37
- 300m: 3:56
- 400m: 5:15
- 500m 6:34
- 600m 7:54
- 700m
- 800m: 10:34
- 1000m: 13:14
- 1500m 19:52
- 2000m: 26:28 (last 500m was 6:35)
Conclusion: The problem is the fear of water, we are afraid of swimming faster and stronger. This time today I started more intrepid than yesterday and didnt think about the further laps, the first 500m was okay then again kept my control till 1500m (i should better not have done this). I could swim with the same pace (1:19) as I started between 500m and 1500m faster and then the total time would be 26:15.

Yes, exactly i m feeling the same while doing the doggy paddle drill, better catch, feel for the water and proper rotation with better horizontal balance, also legs raise more.
I can do better paces as 1:20 with doggy paddle drill:
https://youtu.be/OWLcH_MacbM
in the above drill i m doing mixed doggy paddle:
25m 1 arm inside 2 arms outside
25m 2 arm inside 1 arms outside
25m all arms inside
25m all arms outside

this drill also useful for scapular plane exercise which is great for shoulder rehabilitation, scapular plane is the region where our shoulder moves in a safe and injury free way.

Why all the weight loss? To reduce drag? Are you sure you dont become too weak?

Re: Nightcrawler's Journey to World Masters Swimming Championships 2017
Weight loss is obviously a benefit as long as it doesn't include muscle loss. Simple matter of power-to-weight ratio. I lost a good 14 pounds over the past three or four months and it made me a good deal faster (it wasn't muscle! ) I'm about 172 pounds (78kg) at the moment, but could probably stand to lose another 3 or 4 pounds.

i m 176cm and 72 kg at the moment, 70kg is ideal for me. When you loose kilos everything becomes easier.

24.07.2017 - SCM 3000m - Evening session 17:30-18:45
3000m non stop swim with a descending pace per 500m (avg pace: 1:25)
Notes: 17 days left for the competition. For distributing the lactic acid i prefered to do double sessions this week.
After the session i loaded carbohydrates: rice and ice cream. Also yesterday i bought speedo fastskin 3 racing cap, says that reduces drag up to 6%:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/speedo-fastskin3-cap-unisex/
It is 5:10 AM now, woke up earlier than ever, couldnt sleep well due to adrenalin. My race mode active! I ll leave home soon, drink my isotonic drink and l-carnitine, and do my morning session with my race suit, race cap and race goggles in order to measure the difference in good conditions. In a few hours i will share my results...

25.07.2017 - SCM 4800m - Morning session 6:30-7:45
100m crawl easy

Set2: 2000m doggy paddle drill (29:17, 1st 1000m split time: 14:42) (Average Pace:1:28)
100m crawl easy
Set3: 20x25m crawl int:22" (average:17.5")
100m crawl easy
Notes: Today Race Mode was activated I swam with speedo fastskin jammer race suit, speedo fast skin race cap, and speedo 1.5 myopic goggles(I bought them for performing navigation during the race, because I cant see the baloons ahead). Race suit and cap makes (AT LEAST) 2 seconds difference per 100m, it was really cool to see this difference It is upsetting that for decades I have been swimmign with normal slip trunk but my opponents have been wearing these kind of special racing suits, I have already been passing them in 5K, 8K marathons, damn if i had worn such a suit before, I would probably have made more gap.

Are fastskins race-legal? I thought they banned them a few years ago, or was that only for pool races?

Notes: Today there was a film shooting in the pool, it was like a party day, therefore I cut off some of the distance for leaving the pool earlier, fed up with traffic and seeing lots of people around. From now on until the race I am stopping using the pullbuoy, but I am almost not kicking anymore, legs should get used to learn to work without sinking. 14 days to go for the competition! I will swim by singing the song of "Guns'n Roses-Dont Damn Me". My logo is ready, I will publish it on tshirt:

Set3: 32x25m crawl int:21" (average:18")
50m crawl easy
Notes: There is a bit pain in my operated left shoulder, didnt want to push so hard in set1, kept control and swam with descending pace. In set3 I increased my repetitions and also improved my usual interval time from 22" to 21" while keeping the same pace.

Re: Nightcrawler's Journey to World Masters Swimming Championships 2017
28.07.2017 - Lunch Time Session - SCM 1000m Time Trial - "Ankles Tied With Bands"
Result:13:55, Average Pace: 1:22
It is nice to see more or less the improvement, last time on 17.07.2017 it was 14:01. In the trainings and time trials I am wearing an old drag suit, thus for the 3K holding the 1:20 pace with race suit is not a a dream from now on!
